Brochures are Shotguns
Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 01:38PM I have always believed that brochures are like shotguns in the realm of advertising. You do not have to aim really carefully to hit the target. You just have to shoot and hope that something gets hit. Brochures do that. You give it away to thousands of prospective clients everyday with the hopes that somebody will get hit. Hand out brochures or direct mail brochures is your ultimate shotgun.
The key here is to make your shotgun work effectively. Bottom line is you have to have good brochures. Good brochures capture the interest of prospective customers. They must be attention-getters or they go directly to the trash bin. Let me tell you a secret of how to have good brochures. The secret is in the company that will print your brochures.
Your brochure printing company must be able to give you a good print. I think you would agree that any service you employ, not just a printing service, from which you get bad results is completely unacceptable, right? You're after how much bang you can get for your every buck. The colors must be vivid; finish should either be glossy or matte. Anything less than that is unacceptable – if you really want to get those customers calling.
I have tried a lot of brochure printing companies but I guess I have become comfortable with Printplace.com. For starters, I can order online and have it delivered to my office in as fast as 2 DAYS!!! Second is that they have professionally-designed brochure templates which eliminate the need for layout design costs. Third, they have instant pricing which, I think, is very convenient for no-time-for-fancy-misleading-digressing-banners people like me. I can get an idea of how much I will be spending for a brochure by manipulating the type of paper, finish, pieces, folding, etc. So if I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat remembering I need to get brochures for something in as little time possible, ahh... Printplace. Fits the bill!
So goodluck with your quest in finding your shotgun. Fortunately for me, I already got mine loaded.
